Many models of Language Acquisition focus on learnability problem: Aim to show that certain problematic constructions can be learnt. Often use artificial input (toy grammars). Output does not map onto child speech: error on output vector larger for ungrammatical items; unclear how this relates to actual error rates. Implications outside the phenomenon under investigation can be unclear.
