VideoLectures.net is an award-winning free and open access educational video lectures repository.

VideoLectures.Net is a free online video portal that brings together lectures, talks, and presentations from the world's leading scientific conferences, summer schools, and workshops.

Thousands of hours of content cover every field – from machine learning to medicine, economics to engineering – recorded and made permanently available to anyone, anywhere. No paywalls, no institutional access required. Beyond the archive, editors actively curate and highlight content worth watching, keeping the platform useful rather than merely large. Ongoing research and development in video processing, search, and automatic subtitling continues to improve the experience – making it easier to find the right talk and gain real value from every lecture.

Whether you're a researcher catching a keynote you missed, a student exploring a topic in depth, or simply someone who wants to hear directly from those shaping a field – it's all here, and it's free.

WE GO BEYOND THE VIDEO STREAMING PLATFORM.

Filming & Synchronization

We manage the entire production process, from on-site recording with professional equipment to delivering a polished final video. This includes proper colour and sound correction, clean titling, and graphics that enhance the content rather than distract from it.

We also handle slide synchronisation, aligning your presentation slides with the video recording so viewers can follow the lecture exactly as it was delivered. Encoding and distribution are managed by us, with editorial support and quality control throughout.

Hosting & Analytics

Once your content is produced, we ensure it remains available. Our lifetime hosting package includes unlimited video streaming, reliable encoding, and ongoing editorial support, so your lectures stay accessible long after the event has ended. No time limits, no loss of quality.

Publishing a lecture is just the beginning. We track how content is discovered, viewed, and engaged with across the platform, providing a clear picture of reach, viewing patterns, and audience behaviour over time. We offer on-demand reports so you always know exactly what impact your content has.

Research & Development

VideoLectures.Net is more than a hosting platform; it is an active research environment. We participate in a range of funded projects aimed at advancing the processing, searching, and delivery of scientific video content, continuously integrating new capabilities directly into the platform.

We collaborate with academic institutions and industry partners through joint projects and welcome new partnerships. If your work involves scientific knowledge dissemination, open access, or media technology, there is likely common ground to explore.

Our achievements were recognised and led to partnerships that continue to shape the platform.

VideoLectures.Net has been recognised as one of the world's leading open educational video portals – not only by users, but also by some of the most respected organisations in science and technology.

In 2009, the platform was selected by the World Summit Award (WSA) Grand Jury as one of the most outstanding examples of creative and innovative e-content worldwide, winning in the e-Science & Technology category. It was chosen from over 20,000 applications submitted from 157 countries. The WSA operates within the framework of the UN World Summit on the Information Society (UN WSIS), conducted by ICNM – an Austrian not-for-profit organisation based in Salzburg and Vienna – and contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals by recognising local digital content with real impact on society. In 2013, the recognition went further: the WSA Online Jury reviewed 200 winners from the previous decade and selected just eight all-time bests, awarding VideoLectures.Net the WSIS+10 Global Champions title in the same category.

This track record led to a partnership with UNESCO, establishing the Chair on Open Technologies for OER and Open Learning, with VideoLectures.Net serving as a leading example of open access to scientific knowledge in practice.

Both the awards and the UNESCO partnership reflect a commitment the platform has maintained since its inception in 2001: advancing open access to knowledge and supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goal of inclusive, high-quality education for all.

The platform is a flagship project operated by the IRCAI team

VideoLectures.Net is operated by the International Research Center on Artificial Intelligence (IRCAI) under the auspices of UNESCO, based at the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia. We believe that open access to knowledge and the free exchange of ideas are fundamental to scientific progress, and VideoLectures.Net is how we put this belief into practice.
