TERMS OF USE
Effective date: May 1st 2026
Our Terms of Use explain what you can expect from us and what we expect from you. We encourage you to read them carefully and to check back occasionally, as we may update them from time to time. When we make material changes to these Terms, registered users will be notified by email before the changes take effect. Minor changes, such as corrections of typographical errors or clarifications that do not affect your rights, take effect upon publication.

3. User Account
3.1 Account Creation
You may register using your name, surname, and email address, or via Google login. Users may have only one personal account, except for shared organisational accounts explicitly authorised by IRCAI.
3.2 User Responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Impersonation, providing false information for malicious purposes, or attempting to gain unauthorised access is prohibited. Anonymous or pseudonymous use is permitted provided it is not used for abuse.
3.3 Account Management
You may update your personal data (username and password) and delete your account at any time. The email cannot be changed. Email address changes require identity verification; please contact info@videolectures.net to request a change.
3.4 Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, including for misuse, scraping, harming the platform, or illegal activities. We may also suspend, deactivate, or delete accounts that remain inactive for an extended period, in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
If your account is inactive (i.e. no login) for 24 months, we may notify you and, if there is no response or renewed activity, delete or anonymise the associated personal data, unless retention is required to comply with legal obligations, maintain security, prevent fraud or abuse, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
4. Content and Intellectual Property
4.1 Licensing of Videos
Unless stated otherwise, videos on VideoLectures.net are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence.
Under this licence, you may:
- Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format for any purpose, even commercially.
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.
Under the following terms:
- Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
Some individual videos may have different licensing terms, which will be clearly indicated.
4.2 Playlists
Users may create and share playlists. Playlists remain subject to these Terms, but may be used for commercial or non-commercial purposes. Note that while the act of creating or sharing a playlist is permitted for any purpose, the individual videos contained within a playlist remain subject to their own respective licensing terms (see section 4.1). Creating a playlist does not alter or expand the licence governing any individual video.
4.3 Uploading Content
Users cannot upload videos directly. All submitted content is reviewed and approved by the VideoLectures.net editorial team before publication.
4.4 Access to Content
Access to content on the Website varies by permission level. Most videos are publicly available; others require a registered user account. Certain videos remain restricted and will only become accessible upon explicit permission granted by the organiser or author.

6. Learning Analytics and Personalization
We use user interaction data (e.g. watched videos, searches) to improve recommendations and learning experiences. Details on data collection and your rights under the GDPR are described in our Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms.
