In this talk we discuss the various aspects of the computing resource needs experiments in High Energy Physics, in particular at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), have encountered so far and how this will evolve in the future HL-LHC 10 years from now, when the already exabyte scale levels of data we are processing could increase by a further order of magnitude. The distributed computing environment has been a great success, however the inclusion of new software and hardware approaches like e.g. super-computing facilities present a big future challenge, which we need to master to guarantee the continued success of the LHC physics programme.
