American Political Science Association and the Enterprise of Political Science
Academic associations are among the many institutions that shape the practice of their discipline. This paper looks at the role the American Political Science Association has played in the development of political science in the U.S. and beyond. As well, we will examine the interplay between organizational forces within the discipline, such as university structures, foundations, think tanks and learned societies in the context of the general intellectual and academic directions of the field.
