Keynote Presentation: Strengthening Scientific Capacity through Science Diplomacy for Sustainable Futures [15 min]

Format: Plenary panel discussion [45 min] with interactive dialogue with participants [30 min]

Key Messages: This session will examine how science diplomacy can support capacity-building in science, technology, and innovation as a foundation for sustainable development. In many parts of South-East Europe, gaps in technical expertise and access to data limit the ability of countries to fully harness scientific knowledge for policy-making and regional cooperation. Panellists will discuss how international collaboration, training, and knowledge-sharing foster stronger scientific communities and institutions. The session will emphasise the central role of science diplomacy in building the human and institutional capacity needed to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
