About
The Department of Mathematics of the University of Primorska, in cooperation with representatives of all Slovenian institutions engaged in research in mathematics, applied for the organization of the 8th European Congress of Mathematics in 2020. The Council of the European Mathematical Society, assembling at the 7th European Congress of Mathematics in July 2016 in Berlin, recognized the potential of the Slovenian candidates and chose us as the organizers of the next Congress.
European Congresses of Mathematics (ECM) are held under the auspices of the European Mathematical Society - EMS. This is the second largest assembly of mathematicians in the world, second only to the the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM). The ECM is attended by over 1,000 researchers and doctoral students every four years.
