Nathan Jacobs
I am a recent Ph.D. graduate in Computer Science at Washington University in St. Louis. My adviser Robert Pless and I are members of the Media and Machines Lab.
In August, I will join the Computer Science Department at the University of Kentucky as an Assistant professor. I will be affiliated with the Center for Visualization & Virtual Environments.
My research area is in understanding long-sequences of video from outdoor cameras. I am working to solve traditional computer vision problems, such as calibration and tracking, using video of a scene captured over weeks, months, and even years. One part of this work is in using natural scene variations to geo-calibrate widely distributed cameras. Another part is in learning scene models to facilitate tracking and anomaly detection.
