Isabelle Augenstein

Isabelle Augenstein is a PhD candidate at the Department of Computer Science, The University of Sheffield. Before starting her PhD in 2012, she studied Computational Linguistics at Heidelberg University and worked as a Research Assistant at AIFB, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Her research focusses on methods for exploiting background knowledge from the Linking Open Data cloud for NLP tasks, such as entity and relation extraction, semantic relatedness and topic detection. For her PhD thesis, she is researching distant supervision for Web information extraction. She has published at international conferences such as ACL, ISWC and ESWC, and has been awarded a best workshop paper award at ESWC 2013. Isabelle has been involved in teaching and assessing several modules on Web and Semantic Web technologies at The University of Sheffield.
