Alan Hanjalic
Dr. Alan Hanjalic is an Associate Professor of Multimedia Technology and Head of the Multimedia Content Analysis research cluster at the Department of Mediamatics of the Delft University of Technology. He received his Ph.D. in 1999 from the Delft University of Technology, Delft, The Netherlands, and his Diplom-Ingenieur (Dipl.-Ing.) degree in 1995 from the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen, Germany, both in Electrical Engineering. He was a visiting scientist at Hewlett-Packard Labs in Palo Alto CA, USA, in 1998, a research fellow at British Telecom Labs, Ipswich, UK, in 2001, and a visiting scientist at Philips Research Labs at Briarcliff Manor NY, USA, in 2003, as well as at Microsoft Research Asia, Beijing, China, in 2005.
Research interests and expertise of Dr. Hanjalic are in the broad areas of multimedia signal processing, media informatics and multimedia information retrieval, with focus on multimedia content analysis for interactive content browsing and retrieval and
